FAQ

You have Questions. We have Answers.

1. Where can I buy Lorena® flatware?

Currently, Lorena® flatware is only available online via this website and Amazon, with more locations coming soon.

2. What does 18/0, 18/8, and 18/10 mean?

These numbers refer to the percentages of chromium and nickel in the stainless steel alloy that we use to make your flatware. The first number, “18,” refers to the percentage of chromium content in our flatware. Chromium aids in corrosion resistance. The second number refers to the percentage of nickel content, which creates a silver-like shine and finish. SO, in the instance of 18/0, the silverware would have 18% chromium and 0% nickel.

All Lorena® flatware is made with 18/0 stainless steel.

3. What causes stainless steel to rust and how can I avoid it?

The most common cause of rust on stainless steel flatware is from washing it in water with high mineral concentration. Therefore, if the flatware is not completely dried after washing, any remaining water evaporates leaving the minerals to settle on the stainless steel and cause it to rust. You can help avoid rust by completely drying your stainless steel by hand using a soft cloth.

4. Can I remove rust from stainless steel?

Yes. If you find rust on your silverware, you can use a moist sponge and quality cleanser to remove it.

5. Can stainless steel flatware stain?

Yes. Your flatware is “stain less”, not stain proof. Therefore, to keep it looking its best, avoid prolonged contact with acidic based food substances as these may erode your flatware. Discoloration, corrosion, spotting and pitting can be caused by ingredients found in food, tea, coffee, vinegar, salt, hard water and heavily chlorinated and acidic cleaning agents.

6. How can I remove stains from stainless steel?

The best way to remove stains and mineral build up from stainless steel is to use a good quality stainless steel cleaner. You can also make a paste that will also help remove stains from flatware from:
1. One part baking soda and three parts water, OR
2. One part white vinegar to 8 parts hot water.

7. How can I keep my Lorena® flatware looking its best?

There are a couple simple tricks to keeping your Lorena flatware looking its best. First, be sure to clean and dry your Lorena® flatware as soon as possible after use. Also, remember to avoid using heavily acidic cleaning agents such as those containing acidic citrus additives (i.e. lemon, lime, grapefruit). See our Use & Care section for more information.

8. Is my Lorena® stainless steel flatware dishwasher safe?
